GOP Doubles Down On "No"

The North Carolina Democratic Party sent out the following message today:

President Harry Truman once said, "I never gave anybody hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell."

That quote is as true today as it was when Truman said it. You see, NC GOP Chair Tom Fetzer called a press conference yesterday to say that he and the NC Republican Party took great offense to us pointing that they are the Party of No and that Richard Burr doesn't care about the struggles of North Carolina families.

It seems they are very proud of the fact that they are the Party of No - no new ideas, no solutions to the challenges facing our nation and our state, and they offer no assistance for North Carolinians struggling to find work in this global recession that their economic policies created. All they want to do is say "no" and then complain when they are called out about it.

While standing next to George W. Bush's nephew yesterday, Fetzer stated that Republicans are not just the Party of No, but the party of "hell no."

Ok Tom, if you want to double down on the fact that you have no ideas, no solutions, and no compassion for struggling families, have at it. You're welcome to it. The Democratic Party will just continue working and fighting to fix all the problems you and your party left us with in Washington.

And while Fetzer was doubling down on having no new ideas, he also took a moment to defend Richard "Bank Bailout" Burr for opposing extending emergency unemployment benefits to those struggling to find work. Fetzer even said they were "proud" of Burr's vote. Almost simultaneously, in Washington, Bank Bailout Burr was voting yet again against aid for American workers who are looking for work.

So to be clear, Richard Burr supported using billions of taxpayer dollars to bail out the very Wall Street Banks who created this global economic downturn, but he turns his back on the families struggling to make ends meet because they've lost their job. And this makes Tom Fetzer proud.

We've always known the Republican Party was in the pocket of the Wall Street and corporate special interests and didn't care about ordinary American families. Now, we have proof, and it's straight from the horse's mouth.

So to Tom Fetzer and Bank Bailout Burr, you all continue offering no ideas or solutions and standing up for Wall Street. The Democratic Party will continue telling the truth about you...and offering real solutions to fix your mess.

Sincerely,

Andrew Whalen

Executive Director, North Carolina Democratic Party

For more information about the North Carolina Democratic Party visit their website at www.ncdp.org.
